Drone light painting with Lume Cube

Q: What made you want to become a photographer?

A: It kinda just happened haha. I have been a pro athlete for 10 years, and I started photography to get away from the pressure and stress, and suddenly I was working with some of the biggest brands in the world.

Q: You talk a lot about challenging yourself in your personal life and in your work, what is one thing that you are going to do this year to challenge yourself?

A: That’s a tough one… I am constantly challenging myself every day as you say. I have a big project coming up which is a black and white series of people and atmosphere. This is something very different and will be a good challenge to start the year!

Q: How and why are you using Lume Cubes in your work?

A: I absolutely love doing long exposure and night photography, so having the Lume Cubes are great. My no 1 product is the light painting kit for my drone, it’s so fun to get creative with!

Q: Who are you inspired by?

A: Early on I was inspired by my cousin @gareth.hayman who I looked up to with his photography. I think now I take inspiration from anyone and everyone, experiences and travel are a bit eye-opener as well.

Q: If you weren’t a photographer? What would you be instead?

A: I’d be a pro athlete - Ice hockey player

Q: If you could only shoot with ONE lens-type for the rest of your life, which would it be? Fisheye, wide-angle, prime, zoom, macro, or a telephoto lens?

A: Ouch, only one!? Ok, probably a 16-35, best all-round lens in my eyes.

Q: Tell us a little bit about @uk.shooters and why you decided to start the group?

A: @uk.shooters is a photography community I started in 2016. I have always been involved in team sports, and when I started shooting on Instagram I was looking for other photographers to shoot with and collab. There wasn’t anything like it in the UK for creative photographers, and after I saw the community that was in America, I wanted to build it up over here. As a collective of @watchluke, @cyrusnezami, @keenanlam and myself host photography events all over the UK for creatives to not only create wicked content but also network and meet other like-minded people. The events are highly anticipated and the free tickets “sell out” within seconds! If you haven’t been to one of our events before make sure you check out the page and hopefully we will see you at one soon!

I’m now looking to take the Shooters brand to the next level as we have branched out to cities across the States in LA, Bay, Chicago, PNW, New York, and more to come!

Q: What is your go-to camera?

A: My Sony a7riii, I absolutely love it!!

Q: Any advice for new photographers?

A: Have fun! It’s a process to get better and improve, so enjoy the journey, have passion and learn from everyone you can.

Q: What is your preferred editing software?

A: I edit all my content in Lightroom, and then sometimes jump over to Photoshop if I have to.

Q: What is the best part of your day?

A: Waking up and knowing I have an exciting day ahead of me, no matter where I am in the world!

Q: Coffee or tea?

A: Coffee!

Q: What’s your favorite photo you’ve taken and why?

A: Hmm… I don’t think I have 1 favorite, but my screensaver is a shot I took of the main stage at Tomorrowland. Every time I turn my Mac on and see it, I smile and it brings back the energy and excitement I captured with the thousands of people around me!

Q: Where is the next place that you want to shoot with Lume Cubes at and how would you use the Cubes?

A:  I have a few ideas I really want to test out, so you will have to swing by my page to see ;)

Q: If you could go on an adventure-photography trip anywhere in the world with one other person… where would you go and who would you take (you don’t need to know the person… celebrities are fair game)?

A: I’d head somewhere with Will Smith, that guys energy is next level and I feel he’d be down to just shoot and have fun!
