The Studio Panel lights are fine for basic 3-point portrait settings. With the key and fill lights positioned at 2 to 2.5 meters from the subject there is plenty of intensity and the shadow edges are reasonably soft even considering the light's small size. The new included remote controls work well and it's great to have full control of all three lights while actually viewing your subject through a viewfinder. As of Oct. 2024, the instructional video needs some revision since the current versions of the Lume Cube Studio Panels require a different method for setting the remote channel number on each panel. The instructional video states that channel selection is done by repeated pressing of the "H" button on a panel after a long press puts the panel in channel select mode. The new panels now have a "CH" button to switch to channel select mode, but now require turning the color temp dial to actually change the channel instead of repeated button presses. The new panels also have an much appreciated, expanded color temp range compared to the original Studio Panels.
